I always get excited my abstract random paint marks turn into something I enjoy looking at

Sometimes my abstract paintings are read as landscapes, maybe they contain a subconscious reflection of the abstract beauty I see in natural environments. Many of my paintings start with random marks, then my subconscious connects with a visual language transforming those marks into a balanced painting. As a bush regenerator using ‘mud maps’ was part of my job and these descriptive, loose abstract shapes often find their way into my paintings. These mud maps also have links to the aerial views I have always enjoyed while at the same time their natural rawness suits my abstract style and makes them uniquely Australian paintings.
