Reworking this image after it was shown at gaffa in September has had positive results. The main brush textured grey shape is surrounded by maroon curved brush strokes linked with thin brown lines.

(Reworking this drawing after being exhibited at gaffa had positive results.) The abstract shapes drawn with charcoal have been painted with washy green, golden yellow and orange, leaving about two thirds of the paper blank. The variety of shapes and colours makes a dynamic composition.

These 20 paintings and drawings began during flights between Adelaide and Sydney, where I sketched the shapes seen 30,000 feet below. Based on these ‘representational’ sketches I made a series of ambiguous paintings. These have a non-representational appearance and become a continuation of my investigation into art and nature as abstract shapes. Most of these were part of the twenty works I exhibited on one wall at gaffa Gallery during September.
