This is one of two pieces that I started in my Sydney studio and completed at BigCi. It represents the level I achieved during 2020 and is a transition work. (see New Growth)

Top to Bottom Pylon 30x42cm
cut from 'Once was Observation Tower', the offcuts join to cover the Non-Objective white line. The alternative name is because of a a resemblance to a sail boat, by a Sydney artist (Simon) I follow on Instagram paints very successful sailing boats.

This represents an extended use of the fabric 'off-cut' expanding the image into a graphic symbolism. The abstract shape is textured with grey and the background is filled with geometric shapes in tones of red and grey
Fancy Dresser 30x42cm
Reworking this image after it was shown at gaffa in September has had positive results. The main brush textured grey shape is surrounded by maroon curved brush strokes linked with thin brown lines.
Educated Aerial 27x35cm
4 vertical and curved brush strokes rise out of black 'landscape' set against a textured buff grey 'sky'. Another work I feel has achieved elements of Post Minimalism I am searching for.

This abstract piece is one of 6 paintings I made of a metal plate used for bracing a concrete wall. This one has a yellow and white rectangle in the lower half of the paper, sloping at 30degrees on a thin black line. rising from this shape is a white line edged with thin black lines.

Most of these paintings and drawings were made on A3 (30x42cm) blocks of 300gsm watercolour paper and use a range of processes and concepts, including Post Minimalism and Non-Objective as I continue my research into abstract art.
This body of work is expressionistic using a mix of chance, found object and by-product to produce images that generate questions. These questions could be rephrased in a way that might create concerns over the general disrespect for our natural environment. I feel my art has direct links to natural environments and it reflects my dual passions, Art and Nature.
