During my years of making art I have explored a variety of styles as research into ‘the abstract’. The abstract I see within nature has direct links into this, whether its the arrangement of plants in a bushland or microscopic plant segments. Observing leaf net-veins and leaf structure are areas that have direct links to my field work as a bush regenerator, this included detailed plant Identification.
2007 was an important year during this period, I worked in the Mangkaja Arts Resource Agency Aboriginal Art Corporation in Western Australia. This was a fabulous experience, a new environment, new discoveries and for my art it taught me ‘don’t be precious‘.
