In 2018 we continue living in Sydney while I study Master of Art at UNSWAD (COFA). Painting full-time in my studio I am producing lots of work, mostly smaller due to the space restrictions in the shared space. All the while my awareness and excitement of paint marks and colour palette continues to evolve with exposure to a wider range of processes within abstract art.

In the second half of 2018 my paintings are mostly small and on watercolour paper. Missing the energy of larger paintings, I began a series of 60x60cm canvases reviving my memories of the tactile pleasure in the texture of canvas. The UNSW subject ‘Communication Skills for Creative Disciplines’ was difficult for me, but pushing myself I extended my reading and writing skills while at the same time developed a greater understanding of Philosophical thoughts around art.

Painting on paper continues to offer me speed and uninhibited mark making.

While by-product and chance continue to be processes in my art practice they are essential vehicles to extend my research into abstract art. Studying art and living in Sydney both continue to influence my work, providing new starting points for abstract images. Many paintings on this page were assignments for Colour and Tone in Master of Art subject. Included are experiments with Yupo Paper, its plastic texture creates a novelty type of surface for mark making.
